Our Team Visited Tamarack Resort |
Just spent a few days in the hot new resort of Western Idaho called Tamarack. The Ski Organizers team was VERY IMPRESSED with the level of accommodations, great service and hugh potential of this new resort.
Tamarack is just 90 miles from the Boise Airport with a brand new village going up at the base of the mountain and also located just up the road from beautiful Lake Cascade.
As a summer destination, this has got to be one of the best in the west. Visitors can choose from a brand new golf course, plenty of mountain biking and an extensive zip line tour built up on the ski hill as well as lots of on the water activities.
We enjoyed some of the best mountain biking terrain this reporter has ever experienced inbounds at a ski area, lots of well marked trails that were in GREAT shape and beautiful visuals from all over the mountain. I must also mention an EPIC day on the Payette River. We had some great whitewater and some beautiful scenics while floating this river. If you get a chance to float, ask for The Mayor of Donnelly to be your guide, yes, the Mayor of Donnelly/Tamarack Idaho is also a river and back country ski guide (our kind of politician). Our crew laughed and laughed the whole way down the river as he kept us very entertained.
We are planning to go back to Tamarack this winter to check out the 1,100 lift serviced acres and 2,800 vertical of this hidden gem in Idaho. Watch for our full report next season. We know, tough job, but somebody has to do it.

Massive snow storms this August at Valle Nevado Resort |

With over ten feet of snow this August, Valle Nevado is having one of the best months ever. A series of five storms split up between sunny bluebird powder days have given skiers and snowboarders the best conditions possible. The slopes are not even getting tracked out before the next storm freshens up the mountain with another round of dry Andean powder.
The last week's storm dumped over four feet of snow and is the largest storm to hit this season. With a cloudless blue sky the following day, many guests at Valle Nevado were claiming "It was my best day skiing ever". A month and a half are still left in the 2008 season, and with these conditions, Valle Nevado is guaranteed to have snow until the middle of October.
